Welcome Jana Clark (Interim Office Manager)

by Robert Freeman on 01/06/17

Greetings fellow Blue Knights®,
As most of you know there’s been changes made at the International Office and I am now serving as the Office Manager.
I am eager to working for each of you in this capacity and I’d like to share a little about myself with this great organization. My time with the Blue Knights® I started working at the office part time in 1997 and worked until 1999, decided to stay home and enjoy my children in their younger years. After they started
school in 2002 it was time to go back to work and I served as a temporary employee as needed during peak times at the office until I was hired full time in 2009 as Office Assistant. Obviously there’ll be bumps in the road but with the experience I’ve gained over the years I will be able to make a smooth transition between positions while making sure the day to day operations are taken care of. Please don’t hesitate to call the office with any questions or concerns you may have.
There will also be changes in emails for the office in order to reduce our operating cost to save money. As of December 31, 2016, we will no longer be using the blueknights@myfairpoint or blueknights2@myfairpoint email
accounts. All other email accounts will remain open and can be found on the International website.
I’d also like everyone to know that we’ve hired a new Office Assistant, Ruth Adams, who’ll begin working full time beginning January 2nd, 2017. Ruth honorably served 20 years anad honorably retired from the United States Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer. Her military and civilian experience makes her a great fit for the position within our organization. Her husband, also honorably retired from the United States Coast Guard, serves as fisheries enforcement with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association.
In closing, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Officer Davon McKenzie was off-duty when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle along Interstate 495 in the Largo area around 11 p.m. on May 28. He died from his injuries a short time later at a nearby hospital.
McKenzie was assigned to the Bureau of Patrol and joined the Prince George's County Police Department in March of 2017. He was 24 years old and worked as a School Resource Officer at William Wirt Middle School in Riverdale.
Attention Blue Knights members both far and wide! On December 4, 2019, Kirk Williams from Maryland I transferred from chapter to Heaven I. To grieve this loss, Kirk leaves behind a wife of 34 years and two adult children. While speaking with Kirk's wife, Maxine, it was learned that she was a patch collector, which she thoroughly enjoyed.. We are seeking assistance from our Brothers and Sisters at this time by asking if you can help us enhance Maxine's collection thereby giving her an outlet to work through her grief. If you are able to assist, please send the patch to: Blue Knights Maryland - I, P.O. Box 52, Bladensburg, Maryland 20710.

Thank you in advance and remember, RIDE WITH PRIDE!

Fellow Blue Knights,

It is with great sadness that we must advise all of passing of the Founder of the Blue Knights, Ed Gallant, transferred to the Heaven 1 chapter. A very modest and humble man who loved the Blue Knights, it was his idea to start the club in 1974.

What began as a single chapter with 7 members has grown to almost 16,000 members, 599 chapters, in 31 countries. Ed nor any of the Founding Fathers had any clue it would ever get to where it is today.

Please keep his lovely wife Maggie and Ed’s family in your thoughts and prayers. He is now riding again with fellow Heaven 1 chapter members and Founding Fathers Doug Minor, Joel Rudom, Chuck Gessner, and Bill Robinson. Thank you for your friendship and rest in paradise Ed you'll be missed.
